Native to the cool, fast-moving streams of southern China, this hillstream loach is ideal for well-oxygenated tanks with plenty of water movement and smooth rock surfaces.
With a maximum size of around 2.5 to 3 inches (6–7.5 cm), this peaceful loach is perfect for community aquariums, especially hillstream or river-style biotopes. Its natural algae-grazing behavior makes it both a beautiful and functional addition to planted tanks.
This loach thrives in mature aquariums with strong filtration, moderate current, and abundant surface area for grazing. A peaceful shoaling species, it does best in groups of three or more and appreciates cool temperatures and clean water.
